Four Years of Ongoing Creative Work for Knoebels Amusement Resort
For the past four years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with Knoebels Amusement Resort on a wide range of design and illustration projects. What started as individual design work has grown into an ongoing creative relationship
that includes their illustrated park map, map brochure, additional brochures, billboards and other marketing materials.
Working with an amusement park presents a unique set of design challenges. There’s a lot of information to communicate, attractions and offerings are constantly evolving, and everything still needs to feel fun, approachable and true
to the personality of the park.
That experience has given me an understanding of how illustration, graphic design and thoughtful organization can work together to help tell a park’s story—and make the guest experience a little easier along the way.

Park Maps
A park map has to do more than show guests where things are. It needs to make a large amount of information easy to navigate while still capturing the personality of the park. For Knoebels, I create and update the illustrated park map, incorporating rides, attractions, food locations, amenities and other guest information into one cohesive piece.
Custom Illustration
Every park has attractions and
landmarks that make it uniquely theirs. Rather than relying on generic icons or stock graphics, I create custom illustrations that reflect the actual rides, buildings and features guests recognize. Those illustrations
can then become part of a larger visual system used across maps, brochures and other marketing materials.
From Map To Finished Piece
The illustration is only part of the job. I also handle the design and layout of the finished park brochure, organizing schedules, guest information, attractions, advertising and other content around the map. The result is a piece that’s visually engaging, easy to use and ready for production.
BEYOND THE PARK MAP
A consistent park experience extends beyond the map. My work with Knoebels has also included brochures, billboards and other marketing materials, allowing the same visual thinking to carry across everything from something a guest holds in their hand to advertising they see from the highway.
